Taking care of ourselves is a duty that, unfortunately, some of us don’t abide by. We tend to get overwhelmed with all those products, tips, and tricks, and we make excuses for not having enough time to stick to a daily self-care routine. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed our true colors. Because now, all we have is time. And there is no better time you can take care of yourself than now! Following a self-care routine can be hard at first, but once you get used to it, it becomes a lifestyle that you cannot imagine your day without.
“WHY DO YOU NEED AN AUTUMN SELF-CARE ROUTINE,” YOU ASK?
Well, there are a lot of reasons. Yet, to put it shortly, autumn is the time when it starts getting cold and dark outside after the long hot days of the sunny summer. Autumn is the transition period to winter, and many people get sick during this time more than any time in the rest of the year. The weather gets colder and drier, and we really don’t want to be a part of a new coronavirus “autumn” wave; I think we’ve had enough. And let’s not talk about the seasonal depression that hits a lot of people around this time. Thus, the ball is in your playground now, and you get to decide whether you want to keep your health in a good manner or not.
THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME SUMMARIZED TIPS WE BELIEVE WOULD BENEFIT YOU THIS AUTUMN IN TERMS OF TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF:
-REMAIN HYDRATED AND MOISTURIZED:
Many people “forget” to drink water in the colder weather, and that’s a disastrous mistake. Even if you don’t feel like you’re sweating or losing amounts of water, you still need to consume 2 liters of water every single day to make sure your skin, your health, and your overall body and organs are functioning well. Make water your number best friend. Moreover, specify some time every day to moisturize yourself up since the dry air of the weather as well as the central heating at home can damage your skin.
-AN AUTUMN EXERCISE ROUTINE:
We do know that you hate the sight of the word “exercise”, but we won’t recommend it if it wasn’t for your own good! You have to get your heart rate up during the lazy cold days. It’s just a matter of getting over the dreaded start. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll feel so much better and your body will thank you for those stretching sessions. If you do that along with clean eating habits, your health should be at its best!
-ASK FOR HELP WHEN NEEDED:
Seasonal depression is a thing and it happens more frequently when autumn approaches. Therefore, if you believe you’re suffering from mental or psychological obstacles during this time- especially with coronavirus pandemic and lockdown- then never be ashamed to ask for help. Talk to your family, friends, or experts about how you feel, and what can you do to get better. It’s never too late, and we’re all in this together.
-GOT OUTSIDE WHEN YOU’RE ALLOWED TO:
Now, we’re not saying you should break the lockdown rules your government has in place, but we’re recommending to get a shot of fresh air whenever you’re allowed to; making sure you’re following the safety procedures and abiding by the social distancing orders. You should enjoy the crunchy leaves and drizzly air. It won’t only help your mental health; it will also give you another perspective on this magnificent season. A little walk is always better than staying hours and hours in front of your T.V. screen.
